Tamiya Mini 4WD Starter Packs - A Complete List
Tamiya’s Mini 4WD Starter Packs are the perfect entry point for new racers who want to jump into the hobby with a competitive edge right out of the box. Each Starter Pack pairs a high-performance chassis with carefully selected upgrade parts - tuned motors, super-hard tires, FRP plates, mass dampers and brakes, giving beginners a solid foundation while offering plenty of room to grow.
What Makes A Starter Pack
A “Starter Pack” in the Tamiya Mini 4WD series is designed to give beginners (and intermediate racers) a ready-to-build car that already includes many upgrade parts - so you don’t just get the base kit, you also performance-enhancing extras. In short: less hunting down of individual parts, resulting in more on the track. Here are the common elements and how they show up in actual kits.
Common Features Across Starter Packs
• Chassis & Body Kit: Each pack includes a full model kit (scale 1/32) with a specific chassis (AR, MA, FM-A) and a body shell designed for that chassis.
• Tuned Motor: Instead of a standard Mabuchi or SMC motor, the packs include a more performance-oriented motor (ie., “Rev-Tuned 2 Motor PRO”, “Torque-Tuned 2 Motor PRO”, etc).
• Super-Hard Tires: Upgraded tire compound (super hard black tires) that are better for racing performance.
• Upgrade Parts: A selection of parts that enhance performance: FRP plates (front and rear), side mass dampers or mass damper weights, brake set and stabilizer balls
• Tools Included: Unlike standard model kits, the Starter Packs often include a screwdriver and wrench (and sometimes a rubber tube) to make assembly easier for beginners.
• Tailored to Track Style: Each version is tuned for a particular racing track style (speed, technical circuit or balanced) via chassis choice and gear ratio.
